Cashman posts low score for Amesbury

Amesbury 125, Wilmington 115

Senior captain James Cashman had 24 points for Amesbury (2-1). Jon Fournier added 23. Sophomore Sean Ward (21 points), freshman Troy Eaton (21), junior Dylan Powers (19) and junior Justin LaBatte (17) also scored officially.

"We played poorly at home (on Wednesday), so I was happy to see the scores I expected then on a road course," Amesbury coach George Dodier said.

Triton 156, North Reading 128

Triton's Andrew Fecteau shot an even-par 36 at Hill View to register 36 quota points. Sam Velonis added 28 points for the Vikings (3-0). Cam D'Agastino had 25.

Field Hockey

Masconomet 5, Pentucket 1

After graduating Pentucket's top two players, Lyndsay Beaton and Sarah Galligan, the Sachems (1-2) have had growing pains. Danielle Baier scored the Sachems' goal, which was assisted by Shannon Beaton.

Pentucket coach Ruth Beaton expects her young team to improve over the course of the season. The Sachems play at North Andover, a Cape Ann League powerhouse, Monday (6 p.m.).

Amesbury 3, Triton 2

Kerri Perkins scored the game-winning goal for Amesbury (1-2)with 20 seconds remaining. She had two goals on the night. Emily Noonan also scored a goal. Gabby Magnifico and Keri Salvatore played outstanding, according to Indians coach Gail Kelleher.
