Letter: Seeking information about 'World's Greatest Woman Driver'
To the editor:
I am writing a book about Fay Taylour, the "World's Greatest Woman Driver" who was a resident adviser at Endicott Junior College, Beverly, from 1965 to 1969.
Fay was born in Ireland in 1904 and made a name for herself in England in the late '20s as a dirt-track rider (motorbikes with no brakes). In the '30s Fay raced cars at the famous Brooklands track in England and abroad, before moving to California in 1949. In the '50ss, Fay toured America, competing in midget car and stock car races. In her heyday she was compared to Amelia Earhart.
