NEWBURYPORT — Local police are on the scene of a one-car fatal accident on Merrimac Street across from The Park Lunch restaurant near the foot of Kent Street.
The crash, which occurred around 7 p.m. today, involved a Ford Focus, which was reportedly traveling east on Merrimac Street heading toward downtown Newburyport when it rolled over and struck a utility pole.
According to reports at the scene, the victim is a young female. Police were awaiting an accident reconstruction team before removing the victim from the car.
