Emergency shelters opened in Newburyport area

Shelters have been opened in the area to accomodate residents who need emergency assistance.

Newburyport: The Salvation Army, 40 Water St., has beds and food available through Saturday for those who lose power and heat.

Salisbury: The Hilton Center beginning Friday evening through Saturday opens as a warming center shelter for those who lose power and heat during the storm. The Hilton Center is located on 43 Lafayette Road, beside the Salisbury Fire Station. For more storm-related information, call the emergency center at 978-465-0543. For emergencies, dial 911. 

Seabrook: The Seabrook Community/Recreation Center will be opened as a warming center should the need arise. The center is on Lafayette Road, south of Kohl's. For emergences, dial 911. 

More shelters are expected to open if widespread power outages occur.
