Newburyport's parking ban extended to Monday

The Daily News of Newburyport

Newburyport —

Newburyport Department of Public Services in conjunction with Emergency Management has extended the parking ban until Monday, Feb. 7 at 8 AM.  DPS crews and private contractors will be working through the night and weekend to widen streets and minimize snow banks on the corners of intersections.   This is necessary to ensure that the City’s emergency equipment will be able to respond to calls for service.

Furthermore, downtown businesses and residents are urged to move their vehicles from the Green Street parking lot to the NRA lots.   This will allow DPS to clear snow from the Green Street lot efficiently and effectively.  DPS is asking that vehicles be moved from the Green Street lot by 11 PM, Thursday, Feb. 3.

Residents and visitors who will head downtown to shop during the parking ban are asked to take caution not to impede traffic flow and/or plowing operations.  Vehicles that obstruct either will be subject to ticketing and towing.
