The Tutoring Tree at Tokyo Joe's

The Tutoring Tree, a local tutoring company, has teamed up with Tokyo Joe's Karate Studios on Route 1 in Salisbury as part of an effort to help support the whole child — in mind, in body and in spirit.

Co-owners Alison Trimper and Anne Miles have opened the center, which provides reading, writing and math support to students in grades kindergarten to 12. They offer individualized instruction. The Tutoring Tree also provides test preparation classes for the MCAS, SAT and other academic exams.

Brandt named five-star wealth manager

For the third year in a row, Bob Brandt has been named a five-star wealth manager by Five Star Professional and Crescendo Business Services. This year, fewer than two percent of wealth managers in the Boston area qualified for the award, which is based on overall client service.

Five Star Professional partnered with Crescendo Business Services to find wealth managers who satisfy 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria that are associated with wealth managers who provide quality services to their clients. As a financial advisor trained in behavioral finance, Brandt focuses on values-based financial planning that recognizes the impact of emotions on financial decision-making.

Brandt has been providing financial planning and asset management services to individuals, families and businesses for 23 years. He received behavioral finance training with the Lennick Aberman Group in 2010, and earned his certified financial planner certification in 1994. Stanley joins Nigro Pettepit & Lucas

Sara Stanley, Esq. has joined Nigro Pettepit & Lucas, LLP, a full-service litigation and dispute resolution law firm with offices located in Wakefield and Newburyport, specializing in probate and estate litigation, and civil litigation, as well as personal injury law and estate planning. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.

Stanley received her juris doctor, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School and her bachelor of arts degree, with honors, from Haverford University in Pennsylvania. She was selected as a member of the Attorney General's Honors Program and served as a judicial law clerk and attorney adviser in the Department of Justice. In addition, she was a member of the SULS Moot Court Honor Board and a note editor for the Suffolk Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association.

Before joining Nigro Pettepit & Lucas, Stanley was an associate with the Boston law firm of Cooley Manion Jones and with the Department of Justice as a judicial law clerk and attorney adviser.

She resides in Newburyport with her husband, Joe, and their son, Jack. She is a volunteer for the Newburyport DARE House and is active in the Newburyport Mothers Club.

RE/MAX On the River hosts expo

RE/MAX On the River in Newburyport is seeking to build community awareness, and offering homeowners and potential homeowners a chance to have their real estate questions answered.

An expo will be held on March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and March 12, 1 to 4 p.m. and will address buying, selling, refinancing, building an addition, making your home "green" and more. Industry experts will be available to answer questions in a one-on-one setting.

Local industry experts will include real estate attorneys, appraisers, home inspectors, short-sale specialists. The expo is free.

Diane West has joined Bob Brandt & Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services. As administrative assistant for the practice, West provides administrative support to office operations, client service, marketing and other aspects of the business.

She brings many years of experience in sales management, database organization and office operations to her new position. Since 2008, she has been the owner and sole proprietor of Office Ally, a virtual-assistant business. She earned a degree in marketing from Northeastern University in 1990 and is a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School advanced secretarial program.

West is also known in the community as a ballroom dance instructor with Newburyport Adult and Community Education, and In Time Dance Instruction in Byfield. She and her husband, Ron, live in Byfield with their two children.

Newburyport resident appointed to Mass. Association of Realtors post

Kevin Wallace, a realtor with Stone Ridge Properties in Newburyport, has been appointed communications/technology focus area vice president for the Massachusetts Association of Realtors®.

As vice president for communications/technology, Wallace is responsible for coordinating the initiatives of the MAR business plan relative to the Association's communications and technology programs.

In addition, he will act as a liaison between leadership and all MAR work groups formed for communications and/or technology programs. He automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of his appointment as a focus area vice president.

Wallace was the legal affairs/member benefits vice president and member of the Executive Committee in 2011. A MAR director since 2007, he was a member of the Business Development Committee for several years and was the committee's chair in 2010. Wallace was also a member of the Electronic Forms Sub-Committee in 2010.

On the local level, Wallace was the 2011 president of the North Shore Association of Realtors®, where he also served on the Business Planning and Nominating Committees. He was the president of the Greater Newburyport Board of Realtors in 2007.

A realtor since 2001, Wallace has earned his certified buyer representative (CBR) professional real estate designation and received his loss mitigation certification (LMC).

St. Arnault appointed government affairs vice president of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors®

Steven St. Arnault, a realtor with Stone Ridge Properties in Newburyport, has been appointed vice president of government affairs for the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR).

As vice president for government affairs, St. Arnault is responsible for coordinating the initiatives of the MAR business plan relative to public policy issues, grass-roots organizational efforts, and legislative and political action activities of the Association. In addition, he will act as a liaison between leadership and all work groups formed under the MAR government affairs umbrella.

He automatically becomes a member of the MAR Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a result of his appointment as a focus area vice president.

St. Arnault has been a 3-year member of the MAR Government Affairs Committee and is a member of the MAR Board of Directors.

On the local level, St. Arnault has served as the chair of the Government Affairs Committee for that past three years. He has been a realtor since 2005.
