---- — New program director for Coastal Connections

Coastal Connections, Inc. has announced that they have hired Obed Gonzalez as the new director of programs for Coastal Connections.

Gonzalez had previously worked for seven years at Children, Friend and Family Services in Lawrence as a senior intensive care coordinator. The skills that Gonzalez brings to Coastal Connections include his background in working with families, solving complex problems and supervising staff.

Deb Plumer, executive director of Coastal Connections, said, “Obed is a perfect match for our agency. He has an extensive background in human services and his philosophy of service to our individuals will only enhance our current programs. Obed impressed us all during the interview process when he indicated that he would always consider the individual as the center for all decision-making and that all effort should be directed to support each individual.”

He has taken the lead in some new initiatives at Coastal Connections including new program design and program enhancement.

Coastal Connections, Inc. is a nonprofit agency located on Water Street in Amesbury. Its mission is to support people with disabilities to achieve their full potential by creating personalized programs that promote living, working, playing and learning in the local community.

Cutts named VP at Institution for Savings

Nina P. Cutts has joined the Institution for Savings as vice president of Commercial Lending, announced President and CEO Michael J. Jones. In her new position she will work closely with the Institution for Savings’ commercial lending team to expand the bank’s growing commercial real estate, construction and commercial and industrial portfolio throughout Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

Cutts has more than 25 years of experience in banking, lending and financial services. Before coming to the Institution for Savings, she was the vice president of Commercial Lending at The Provident Bank in Amesbury, where she managed an $82 million commercial loan portfolio. Before that she held a similar position at TD Bank in Portsmouth.

“Nina has a very strong and impressive track record in commercial lending and portfolio management, and is familiar with our markets, particularly the Seacoast and southern New Hampshire areas,” Jones said.

Cutts graduated from the UMass Amherst. Currently she is on the Board of the Coastal Economic Development Corporation, a nonprofit regional economic development corporation serving the greater Seacoast area. She resides in Kittery Point, Maine, with her husband, Rich Cutts.

Michaud enters marine industry

Retired Navy Capt. Gig Michaud, who recently retired from his second career, the bus industry after 33 years, where he was president and CEO of Michaud Bus Lines, Inc., a regional bus company (17 years), the area general manager for First Student Inc., an international bus company (16 years), is about to undertake a third career. He recently completed his course of study with Boatwise Marine Training, South Hampton, and has passed the required five various maritime exams, to earn his Captain (Master) 100 Gross Ton License, which will now allow him to captain inspected vessels for hire up to 200 miles offshore. This captain license is issued through the United States Coast Guard. He will begin working in the marine industry this spring.

For the fifth year in a row, Bob Brandt, CFP, has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager by Five Star Professional.

Five Star Professional sought out wealth managers in the Boston area who satisfy 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria, such as credentials, experience and assets under management, among other factors.

Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or placed on the final list of 2014 Five Star Wealth Managers.
