Desmarais served as president during a critical time for the crisis center when it embarked on a transition from a grass-roots organization to what it is today, a nationally recognized leader in the domestic violence field.

Desmarais graduated summa cum laude from UMass Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.

She received her juris doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in Boston where she graduated cum laude.

Desmarais lives in Newburyport with her daughter.
