Personal training facility opens in Salisbury

A new business offering a one-of-a-kind workout experience has recently opened its doors in Salisbury. All Natural Training is a personal training studio that caters to those who want to work out, but don't like the typical gym environment.

The facility, which is located at Crossroads Plaza, is equipped with free weights and exercise equipment, but advances a new approach to fitness by offering resources such as sledgehammers, kettle-bells, hurdles, a climbing rope, medicine balls and tractor tires, among others.

Field receives Coldwell Banker award

Melinda Fields of Newburyport, a sales associate in the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Newburyport, has been recognized with the Coldwell Banker International Diamond Society award. This honor is awarded to the top 8 percent of approximately 85,000 sales associates worldwide in the Coldwell Banker system.

Fields will be recognized at a special celebration this month at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

In addition, Fields received the Top 10 GCI (gross commission income) for the North Region awards for her achievements in 2011.

Rowan named one of Most Powerful HR Technology Experts

Lisa Rowan of Newburyport, program director for human relations, learning and talent strategies for International Data Corp. in Framingham, was named one of the Most Powerful HR Technology Experts by the editors of Human Resources Executives. At IDC, Rowan analyzes and consults on HR and talent-related process issues, business-process outsourcing and HR/IT services. Prior to joining IDC, Rowan held business-development, product-management and marketing positions in the human resource software and services markets at Genesys and Digital Equipment Corp.

Port Estate Planning, LLC opens in Newburyport

SBA names Haverhill Bank a Patriot Express Lender

Haverhill Bank is participating in a pilot loan program designed to help veterans and members of the military community establish or expand small businesses. The bank was named a Patriot Express Lender last month by the Small Business Association (SBA).

Eligible military community members include veterans, service-disabled veterans, active-duty service members eligible for the military's Transition Assistance Program, reservists and National Guard members, current spouses of any of the above and widowed spouses of a service member or veteran who died during service or of a service-connected disability.

The Patriot Express Lender is a program that was devised especially for small businesses that are 51 percent or more owned or controlled by veterans or members of the military community. It is one of several loan programs offered under the SBA's 7 (a) loan umbrella. Those programs are chiefly designed for start-up and small businesses that may not typically qualify for regular loans. Haverhill Bank participates in many of the SBA loans and is classified as a preferred lender. Applicants receive a streamlined lending process and expedited loan requests.

Chamber's Annual Luncheon May 31

The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the 46th Annual Meeting Luncheon will be held Thursday, May 31, at the Black Swan Country Club, 258 Andover St., Georgetown. Registration takes place at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon meeting at noon. The keynote speaker will be author Judith Bowman.

Gonet and Lamb receive chiropractic certification

Dr. Paul J. Fowler of Fowler Chiropractic announced that Kathy Gonet and Elena Lamb have received their chiropractic assistant certification from the Chiropractic Assistant Procedures Program. This program provides a comprehensive understanding of modalities and therapies commonly performed in a chiropractic office, presented by Mark A. Davini, DC, DABCN. Davini has been licensed in Massachusetts since 1982. In addition to over 24 years in active practice, he is a past chairman of the MA Board of Registration of Chiropractors, vice president of public information and education, and chairman of the Ethics Committee for MCS.

Urban Elements expands into Newburyport

Urban Elements, 83 Washington St., Salem, will open its second location in Newburyport in May. The expansion comes less than a year since the downtown business moved into its current location, more than tripling the size of its showroom.

Originally established in 2007, Urban Elements specializes in high quality home furnishings and decor as well unique gifts and housewares. The retailer attracts customers from throughout the North Shore and across the country via its online store. It has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Wicked Local Reader's Choice Award in two categories in 2011.

The new store, which is set to open on May 2, is located at 20 Pleasant St. and will be open seven days a week.

Edward Jones financial advisor trains colleagues

Rosemarie Kountz, a financial advisor with the financial services firm Edward Jones in Newburyport, is volunteering her time to share her knowledge with the firm's new financial advisors in Danvers and Cambridge.

"We've had a great deal of success with training in our region because of the quality of financial advisors in our area," Kountz said. "As new financial advisors join us, we take the extra time to make sure they have all the tools they need to be successful."
