DiResta to present his study at annual APHA meeting
The annual meeting of the American Public Health Association (APHA) will be held in San Francisco in October, and local podiatrist James J. DiResta, DPM, MPH will present his study titled "Bringing a National Program in Diabetes Care to the State and Community Level, a Multidisciplinary Approach for Improvement, the Massachusetts Diabetes Education Program Coalition." This project is an ongoing outreach initiative of the MPMS Community Service Foundation that seeks to bring together podiatrists, eye care providers, dentists and pharmacists to improve diabetic patient education and access to care.
DiResta maintains his private podiatry practice in Newburyport and is on the medical staff of both Anna Jaques and Merrimack Valley Hospitals. He serves as a trustee of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and is the past chairman of the Podiatric Health Section of APHA.
'Anna Jaques — Top Ten 2012 Best Places to Work winner
The Boston Business Journal has named Anna Jaques Hospital one of the top ten Best Places to Work in Massachusetts in its 10th annual awards program. Anna Jaques ranked No. 9 in the large employer category (500 employees or more). The honor recognizes the hospital's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture.
Anna Jaques Hospital was one of more than 400 companies to qualify for consideration based on a two-stage nomination process and the results of confidential employee satisfaction surveys taken throughout March and April. The hospital was also ranked in the top 10 Best Places to Work in 2010.
Organizations selected for the award were selected based on the results of more than 18,000 employee satisfaction surveys. Employees answered confidential questionnaires that addressed such factors as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.
The hospital was recognized during an awards breakfast held on June 1 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The hospital will also be profiled in a special supplement of the Boston Business Journal.
