Breakfast speaker series features Baddour, Costello

The Greater Newburyport and Salisbury Chambers of Commerce will host their annual legislative update as part of their monthly breakfast speaker series on Thursday, April 5, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The Ocean Room at the Pavilion/Blue Ocean Music Hall on Salisbury Beach. A continental breakfast will be served; reservations are required. Admission is $15 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers, and reservations are required. Development Guild/DDI promotes Bragg Meurer

Development Guild/DDI, a management consulting firm serving regional, national and global nonprofits in education, health and science, the arts, and human service, announced today that Susan Bragg Meurer, of Newburyport, has been promoted to Principal. Bragg Meurer joins an established leadership team that collaborates with nonprofit boards and senior leaders on organizational strategy, fundraising, and talent management.

Bragg Meurer, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emmanuel College and a Master's of Science from Boston University, joined Development Guild nearly two decades ago. During her tenure, she helped develop and refine time-tested methodologies and best practices for executive recruitment, staff assessment and redesign, transition planning and executive coaching.

Musical Suite welcomes Walker

The Musical Suite, in The Tannery, introduced its newest faculty member, multi-instrumentalist Chuck Walker. Recently relocated to Newburyport, Walker brings a wealth of music industry knowledge from his extensive experience in the California music scene.

Teaching guitar, bass, and piano students of all levels, he emphasizes music fundamentals, improvisation, and repertoire development. In addition, he will be teaching three Music Industry Studies classes beginning in May: a recording arts class, focusing on digital recording techniques and studio post-production; a concert production class, focusing on live sound reinforcement and stage management; and a music business class focusing on promotions and marketing. New classes offered for musicians and sound engineers

Beginning May 7, the Musical Suite, 50 Water St., will offer classes and workshops in recording arts, concert production, music business, and ensemble performance. Classes will teach a variety of music industry topics, such as: unlocking the potential of Garage Band, hands-on experience running live sound on a mixing board, promoting and marketing your band, and performing for a live audience.
