Annual Food Show: A Salute to Our Heroes tomorrow
Shaheen Bros., Inc. of Amesbury and the Home Base Program announced an Annual Food Show: A Salute to Our Heroes will be held tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Frank Jones Center, 400 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, N.H.
Vendors from throughout the region will be displaying their products complete with exhibits and demonstrations. This year's show will feature a booth and guests from the Home Base Program. This organization has been established through a partnership between the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital. It is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans who deployed in support of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and who live with deployment- or combat-related stress and/or traumatic brain injury. The Home Base Program provides clinical care to these veterans as well as support to their families. The organization also offers education on traumatic brain injury for the public and health care providers and is committed to bringing together world-class researchers to advance diagnosis and treatment options.
Shaheen Bros., Inc. has partnered with the Home Base Program in hopes of raising awareness and increasing support for veterans and for the important work of the Home Base Program.
North of Boston represented at Tourism Day
Sue Ann Pearson, executive director of the North of Boston CVB, along with communications manager Amanda Fancy and Discover Gloucester's Executive Director Linn Parisi, will join state tourism leaders Wednesday, May 9, in coming together to foster awareness of Massachusetts' third-largest industry during Tourism Day at the Statehouse in Boston. Gov. Deval L. Patrick and Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo are expected to speak at the event, which coincides with National Tourism Week.
The Massachusetts Regional Tourism Councils, Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism and the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts & Cultural Development are working together to present the event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Staircase and Nurses Hall in the Statehouse.
Law office relocates
The law office of Donald H. Adler has been relocated to 150 Merrimac St., Newburyport. In conjunction with the move, Adler also announced that his office has instituted advanced procedures to enable its clients to take advantage of the efficiencies of the Internet.
"Clients may electronically compile information, complete and file bankruptcy forms and maintain close contact with the law firm in a private and secure environment," Adler said.
He has over 35 years of bankruptcy experience and has successfully represented individuals, retail and service businesses, farmers, manufacturers, contractors and developers, health care providers and others.
Adler is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Spring Invitation Night May 11
Newburyport Chamber of Commerce will hold the second of Newburyport's Spring Invitation Night on Friday, May 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The public is invited to join in the spring festivities in downtown Newburyport and in, around and on the way to the Tannery Marketplace. Facebook seminar May 16
The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry will present a seminar on Facebook Marketing for Business. Participants will learn how to leverage the power of Facebook to achieve marketing goals by focusing on the strategies, tactics and techniques necessary to lead an organization into the world of Facebook marketing. The seminar will be presented by John Haydon, author of Facebook for Dummies.
The seminar is sponsored by Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank and will be held at the Newburyport Public Library, 94 State St., Wednesday, May 16. Check-in and coffee begins at 7:30 a.m. The presentation runs from 8 to 10 a.m. Admission is $20 for chamber members and $35 for non-members, and preregistration is required. Amesbury Chamber hosts open house
The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation will host an open house on Thursday, May 17, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at their office at 5 Market Square. They are inviting their business community and neighbors to visit their newly renovated office and to meet executive director, Marcy Quill, and members of the board of directors. This event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
Member mixer at Adelynrood May 17
The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry will hold a member mixer at Adelynrood Retreat and Conference Center on Thursday, May 17. Participants can explore this retreat and conference center while business networking and take a tour of the building and grounds afterwards.
Adelynrood offers women and men an opportunity to retreat and to discover new resources for living through conferences, workshops and silent retreats.
The mixer will be held on Thursday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Adelynrood is located at 46 Elm St., Byfield, behind The Governor's Academy. Admission is free. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. All are welcome.
