Police: Boston bombing suspect in custody

Police took 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing, into custody on Friday.

The college student had been hiding in a boat in a Watertown neighborhood. His capture comes at the end of a manhunt and city-wide lockdown, with the streets of Boston remaining empty most of Friday.

Police announced via Twitter that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was in custody. His brother, 26-year-old Tamerlan, was killed Friday morning in an attempt to escape police.

A crowd gathered near the scene and cheered when spectators saw officers clapping, according to The Associated Press.
