LONDONDERRY, N.H. -- Just a couple hours before the polls closed, Mike Huckabee greeted voters at Londonderry High School to take photos with their families and thank them for their support.
Melanie Swirlerek of Londonderry stood outside the school for eight hours, but was full of energy when the Arkansas governor arrived.
"This is the first time I've ever done this for any candidate," she said. "I've never really found a candidate I could throw myself behind."
Like other Huckabee supporters around the state, Swirlerek said she hopes Huckabee can pull off a victory in New Hampshire just a week after he won the Iowa caucus. Although he may be outspent by Republican candidates like Mitt Romney and John McCain, Huckabee supporters said he is the only candidate who has integrity.
"You can look him in the eye and he tells you what he thinks," Swirlerek said.
Even though Huckabee's success in Iowa has been largely attributed to support from Evangelical Christians, Greg Lagier of Salisbury said he is a strong candidate for any voter.
I don't agree with him on everything, but if he beats (Rudy) Giuliani, he'll be good," he said.
Joining Huckabee's supporters in front of the school were Rep. Al Baldasoro, R-Londonderry, and Rep. Frank Emiro, R-Londonderry.
Following the Londonderry appearance, Huckabee was headed to his Primary Night Party at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester at 7 p.m.
