---- — Candidate’s statement
There are many reasons I am running for mayor. First and foremost I will keep the waterfront open and expanded for future generations to enjoy. When we consider what New England Development could build on the rest of the waterfront, it sure will be nice to have extra open space down there!
Another reason is I simply want to make people’s lives easier. Taxes and fees have continued to rise. Our streets and sidewalks are still a mess and we need to put better controls on our spending habits.
We are currently addressing our school building needs. But, to better prepare our children for college and their future, we need to replace educational programs lost after nearly 20-plus years of budget cuts. These are just a few of the reasons I am running for mayor.
Given my experience of nearly 20 years in business, six years in elected office and the years I served as a city firefighter, I know we can do a lot better than we have in recent years. I will bring a business and common-sense approach as well as a better attitude to City Hall.
