Waterfront stunner brings European flair to Magnolia

Despite your first impression, you need not bring a passport, for this striking Italian-style villa is not a world away but just a short ride to Cape Ann. Brimming with Mediterranean-inspired accents such as sprawling verandas, spouting fountains, arched passageways and a terracotta pan tiled roof, this magnificent piece of real estate with more than 100 feet of ocean frontage is affectionately known to locals as the “Waterfront Pink Stucco House.”

As explained by listing agent Andrea Bray of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, the house was built for a local musician who wanted a home in which to entertain, perform and, consequently, impress. “The focal point of the interior is the very large great room. It was here that the original owner would perform concerts and throw elaborate parties. It is just a breathtakingly beautiful space with oak flooring, a wood-burning fireplace and two walls of French doors leading to terraces and gorgeous water views.”

Thanks to its generous floor plan, this grand room also features a library “corner” with custom shelving, a TV area with rich cherry cabinetry and, should someone so choose, plenty of room for a formal dining space.

The granite kitchen is simply fabulous with maple floors, an island with secondary sink, top-of-the-line appliances, including a gas cook top with two griddles and a Sub-Zero refrigerator and pantry storage space in the adjacent hall. Venues for dining are plentiful here with choices that include a quaint alcove jutting above the water below, the more expansive dining area with wine cooler and additional cabinetry or for al fresco dining, the terrace with views of the rocks, the ocean, Raif’s Chasm and beyond.

Rounding off this main level is an office with adjacent powder room, a space that might easily be converted to a bedroom suite, suggests the Realtor. Follow the limestone foyer and grand stairway to the second floor with three bedrooms and two baths. In the master, find Juliet balconies, a larger deck and an en suite bath complete with claw-foot soaking tub, walk-in shower and mirrored windows. The “crowning jewel,” perhaps, is found atop a spiral staircase where a tower room affords panoramic vistas.
