The Classical Concert Series kicks off tonight at 7 with flute player Trisha Craig, whose repertoire includes pieces from Baroque to modern.
The series will continue Wednesday with Quartet For-Te, which will play classical and contemporary selections. On Saturday, Aug. 10, the library will team up with the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival for the Kids’ Concert at 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival Open Rehearsal at 10 a.m. will showcase musicians working with composer Robert Maggio on his new sonnet for string quartet, marimba and steel drum quartet.
Wrapping up the series is Regina Delaney on Thursday, Aug. 15, with her own brand of Irish classical music.

Free Saturday spectacles at Salisbury Beach
Free concerts and fireworks are being presented every Saturday night through Labor Day at Salisbury Beach.
This weekend’s show is a Country Night with Jodie Cunningham & Fried Cactus, while next Saturday will feature Sarah Blacker, New England Music Awards’ Female Performer of the Year.
Upcoming performances include Joppa Flatts on Aug. 17, Adam Ezra Ramble on Aug. 24 and Don’t Call Me Shirley on Aug. 31.
The concerts start at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks beginning at 10:15.
New exhibit takes flight at Joppa Flats
Wildlife photography by New Hampshire artist Tom Zack will be displayed from Aug. 4 through Sept. 15 at the Joppa Flats Education Center.
Zack will introduce his exhibit, titled “Birds on the Wing: An Up-Close Encounter With the Avian World,” at a free opening reception on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The owner of ZackStock Imaging, Zack has spent more than 35 years as a nature and wildlife photographer.
A portion of all proceeds from purchases made during the exhibit will help support Joppa Flats, located at 1 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport.
