Health Beat: Avon Walk fundraiser tonight

Local resident Jennifer Lacroix is holding a raffle at Michael’s Harborside tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 to help meet her fundraising goal for the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

Raffle items have been donated by numerous local businesses, and Lacroix will also be raffling off a “Bleeding Heart” queen-size quilt valued at $1,000. Raffle tickets for the quilt are $5 each or five tickets for $20.

Special needs trusts info session Monday

The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will host an information session on special needs trusts on Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.

Attorney Faith E. Delaney will lead the session. The program will be held in the auditorium conference room. Enter at the door to the right of Merrimack Medical Center and follow the NAMI signs.

Stress release techniques program in Newbury

Newbury Town Library will offer a free program on stress release techniques tomorrow from 11 a.m. to noon. Two presenters, Sharon Smith and Kate Rafferty, will be on hand to discuss and share their experience and techniques with the audience.

No registration is required.

Free acupuncture for stress relief

Newburyport Acupuncture will offer free 20-minute acupuncture treatments from 2 to 6 p.m. for new clients only on Oct. 24 in honor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day.

Healing yoga for breast cancer survivors

Roots to Wings Yoga & Healing Center will host four yoga classes for breast cancer survivors to offer support for ongoing health and well-being.

The program runs on Sundays from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the yoga center. Cost is by donation. Each session will be modified to meet the needs of participants as determined by preregistration interviews. Contact Arleen at 978-985-4166. Dialogue with other breast cancer survivors will be a part of the sessions.
