Health Beat: Volunteers sought to help 'Stir the Pot'

The YWCA is looking for volunteers to help with its fourth annual Stir the Pot program, which provides fresh fruits and vegetables to local families in need.

Produce may be dropped off at the Y’s main branch, 13 Market St., Newburyport. Donations will be accepted between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

People are also needed to help pick up and deliver the produce. To help out, contact Ellie Davis at edavis@ywcanewburyport.org.

Night out to benefit cancer research

Stepping Out for a Cure, a fundraiser for the Riverside Rockets Pan-Mass Challenge team, is set for Thursday, July 11, at Phat Cats Bistro in Amesbury.

The event, which starts at 6 p.m., will feature food, drinks, music and auctions of art and other items. All proceeds will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Tickets are $45 and may be purchased by emailing riversiderockets@gmail.com or at the door. The restaurant is located at 65 Market St.

Healing market returns to Newburyport

The monthly Newburyport Healing Arts and Crafts Market will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Religious Society in Newburyport.

The community is invited to receive tarot readings, reiki and energy healing and to browse fine crafts, herbal products and crystals for sale. Free lectures and demonstrations will be held throughout the day, and refreshments and a raffle will be available.

Yoga classes to benefit charities

Anne Rundle, the owner of Asteya Yoga in Merrimac, is giving back to the community as she teaches.

Asteya Yoga promotes affordable classes, and on the last Saturday of the month, in lieu of paying for classes, participants may make a donation to the charity of the month.

During the 7 a.m. Power Yoga and 8:30 a.m. Gentle Flow sessions tomorrow, the studio will collect donations for Towers of Gifts for Newborns in Need, which gives diapers and other items to new moms. On July 27, Aug. 31 and Sept. 28, classes will be free with a donation to the Massachusetts General Hospital pediatric cancer center.
