Emotions Anonymous meetings held weekly

Emotions Anonymous holds a free meeting every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at People’s United Methodist Church, 64 Purchase St., Newburyport.

The 12-step organization is composed of people who come together to work toward recovery from emotional difficulties, including depression, anxiety, grief, anger and relationship problems.

Gentle yoga to help cancer survivors

Healing Yoga for Cancer Survivors is offered on the second Sunday of every month at Roots to Wings Yoga & Healing Center.

The workshops will include gentle, mindful stretching and supported restorative poses and dialogue with other cancer survivors. Each session will be modified to meet the needs of participants, determined in preregistration interviews.

Sessions will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., and the fee is by donation. To set up an interview or for more information, call 978-985-4166 or email arleendamon@gmail.com.

Learn the art of Zen meditation

Free Zen meditation instruction is offered Monday nights at the First Religious Society in Newburyport.

The practice sessions meet in the lower meetinghouse at 26 Pleasant St. from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is a 6 p.m. orientation session for first-time participants.

The classes are taught by Joyce Haydock, a dharma teacher at the Kwan Um School of Zen for more than 22 years.
