Initiative helps cystic fibrosis research
A new endeavor by Jewett Farms + Co. is raising money for cystic fibrosis research.
The Off Cuts Initiative is an online workshop that sells products made from 100 percent off-cut materials, wood and stone, that would otherwise be thrown away. The goals are to reduce waste, increase creativity, and use the profits to support local charity and environmental efforts.
Fifty percent of the proceeds are donated to Team Trevor, a Maine nonprofit that has contributed more than $1 million to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The other 50 percent is earmarked for Jewett Farms’ environmental initiatives, including the purchase of a briquette press that will allow the company to turn sawdust into biofuel.
Jewett Farms is based in Newburyport and Dover, N.H. For more information, visit www.jewettfarmsworkshop.com.
