Photographer shows work at Anna Jaques

Photographs by Steven Perlmutter are on display through April 24 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.

Perlmutter, of North Andover, has been creating images of New England for more than a decade. The exhibit will include scenes and subjects of local interest, including Newburyport.

“Whether it’s a pristine landscape, a New England lighthouse or the architecture of an abandoned mill, capturing light, form and mood is what drives my creative process,” Perlmutter said.

Proceeds from artwork purchases will benefit the Anna Jaques Hospital Aid Association.

Souper Saturday to benefit kids programs

The last Souper Saturday of the season is tomorrow at the Emma Andrews Library & Community Center.

From noon to 2 p.m., six soups will be served, including Mary Brooks’ vegetable beef soup; Peter Lombardi’s tomato, ginger and coconut soup; leek and potato soup from Port City Sandwich Co.; Joyce Lee’s cream of asparagus soup; Jeffrey Esche’s French onion soup; and chili from Metzey’s Taqueria.

A $5 donation includes soup, bread and dessert.

Proceeds from the event benefit the children’s summer programs at the library, which is located at 77 Purchase St., Newburyport.
