The Lookout: Stroll through the downtown art scene

Several new galleries are joining the roster for this year’s free ArtWalk Weekends, which kick off this Saturday and Sunday around Newburyport.

Local artist and ArtWalk coordinator Alan Bull will lead a walking tour of all of the participating locations on Saturday at 3 p.m. The tour will depart from Market Square and will last approximately 90 minutes.

ArtWalk runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Exhibits, demonstrations, lectures, tours and special promotions will take place at various galleries, which include:

Photographer shows work at Firehouse

“Photography” by Karen Lynch is being featured through April 20 in the gallery at the Firehouse Center for the Arts.

Lynch’s photographs are printed on archival canvas and combine conventional techniques with contemporary technology. The exhibit includes images from her recent trip to Southern France.
