On the books: Literary Festival set for April 25-26

Renowned local author Andre Dubus III will be honored at the ninth annual Newburyport Literary Festival, set for April 25-26.

Dubus, a Newbury resident whose most recent book is “Dirty Love,” has participated in every festival since its inception. The opening ceremony on Friday, April 25, will feature Dubus in conversation with award-winning author Ann Hood, whose anthology “Knitting Yarns: Writers on Knitting” includes an essay by Dubus.

Following the free ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, “Dinner With the Authors” will be held at Nicholson Hall at 7:30 p.m. A number of this year’s writers will join guests for a buffet, cash bar and 50-50 raffle. A silent auction will offer an African safari.
