The evening will include raffle drawings for items donated by from local businesses. Tickets for a hand-crafted quilt “Heartstrings,” which was made especially for this year’s run, will be on sale as well.

Sleep discussion at NECC health fair
Harvard University faculty member Dr. Lawrence J. Epstein will give a lecture on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Lecture Hall A of the Spurk Building on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.
Epstein will discuss “What Everyone Should Know About Sleep.” The program is free and open to the public.
Epstein, who teaches at Harvard Medical School’s Division of Sleep Medicine, is program director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program, Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Sponsored by the NECC Health and Sciences and Counseling Services, this talk will be a highlight of the college’s annual Health and Wellness Fair and is part of Sleep Awareness Month, which occurs as the clocks change.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be tables and displays exploring issues such as gum disease, insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, SIDS, sleep deprivation, asthma, smoking cessation, secondhand smoke, hypertension/blood pressure screening, healthy eating, fractures & diseases of the bone, STD Information, mental health counseling information and sleep assessment.

Blood drive in Salisbury
A community blood drive will be held at the Hilton Senior Center, 43 Lafayette Road, Salisbury next Friday, March 8 from 1 to 6 p.m. It is sponsored by the Salisbury Lions Club and the American Red Cross.
Snacks, fruit juices, and bottled water will be provided to donors by the American Red Cross. Chowda will be provided by Lena’s Seafood Restaurant. All donors during March will receive a coupon for a free hand-crafted Griddle Melt from I-Hop.
