The plant became the fifth Amesbury unit that has achieved the SHARP award, the others being located in North Carolina and South Dakota. Fewer than 1,600 worksites in the country and only 11 in Massachusetts currently share the honor of SHARP recognition. The Amesbury facility is an OEM producer of the Foam-Tite product line of weather seals, unique foam gaskets used by many of the major U.S. window manufacturers to prevent air and water infiltration in their window products.
The company, also known as Amesbury Group and Amesbury Industries, originated in 1978 when the Bailey Company spun off their commercial department at 21 Water St. to create an independent corporation.
By participating in the SHARP program and by meeting the stringent OSHA requirements, the U. S. Department of Labor rewards these businesses who have demonstrated their exemplary programs by removing their company’s name from OSHA’s Programmed Inspection Schedule.
