Wine and art reception at Veasey Park

Veasey Memorial Park in Groveland is hosting its annual fundraiser, a Wine and Art Reception, on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

The evening will include entertainment by the Pentucket Jazz Ensemble and food and beverages as guests can browse through a large selection of locally created art.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.wineandartreception.org/.

Veasey Memorial Park was purchased by the town of Groveland in 1996 and is operated by the Groveland Conservation Commission.

Local musicians

give concert

Several local musicians will perform a concert at Central Congregational Church’s jazz cafe on Sunday.

Beginning at 4 p.m., the group will play several original compositions by pianist Gay Pearson. In addition to Pearson, the group includes Lea Pearson on flute, Ben Noyes on cello, Justin Meyer on bass, and Phil McGowan on drums.

The church is located at 14 Titcomb St., Newburyport. Refreshments will be served. There is a $10 suggested donation.

NECC offers free piano workshop

The Northern Essex Community College music department will host a free masters’ piano workshop on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Faculty member Christina Dietrich will lead the seminar in the Technology Center on the Haverhill campus. The workshop is meant to help piano players learn and play in a cooperative group setting. The program will also discuss solo piano works and instrumental and vocal works with piano accompaniment at varying skill levels.

Dietrich has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras, and has performed on the stages of Jordan Hall in Boston, Symphony Hall in Boston and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York.
