---- — The Newburyport High School Interact Club will host a silent auction to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Thursday, March 21.
The auction will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newburyport High School Library and is open to the public. All of the proceeds will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fund research, and to provide financial assistance for patients and their families to use toward medical expenses. The evening will offer a variety of different raffles, as well as many items for auction from local Newburyport businesses and the Newburyport High School National Art Honors Society. There will be refreshments and live music.

Encore program beginning at YWCA
The YWCA Greater Newburyport is accepting applications for the next session of its program, Encore (After breast cancer).
YWCA Encore is designed specifically for those who have experienced breast cancer at any time in their lives. This free program incorporates gentle land/warm water exercises and relaxation techniques that target areas that have been affected by breast cancer surgery and treatment.
Participants can also attend a support group, which provides an opportunity to share experiences and information in a safe and supportive environment.
The session will meet on Wednesdays from April 24 to July 10 at 5:15 p.m. for land exercises followed by warm water pool exercises at 5:50 p.m. Support group sessions are held once a month.

Banks collecting for Our Neighbors’ Table
Ten local banks and credit unions are teaming up this month to take food donations for Our Neighbors’ Table.
Donations of non-perishable food items for the Amesbury food pantry are being collected at: Bank of America (Newburyport), Citizens Bank (Stop & Shop, Amesbury), Eastern Bank (Newburyport), Institution for Savings (Newburyport), Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank (Amesbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, Newbury), The Provident Bank (Amesbury, Newburyport), RTN Federal Credit Union (Amesbury), Sovereign Bank (Newburyport), St. Jean’s Credit Union (Newburyport) and TD Bank (Amesbury, Newburyport).
Community yoga classes in Amesbury
Every Friday in March at 6:30 p.m., People’s Yoga Co-op in Amesbury will hold a community karma yoga class with a different teacher and different theme. Each class is a pay-by-donation.
The schedule includes: March 15, Yin Yoga with Kristin Sauve; March 22, Happy Hour Yoga with Jennifer Freeman and March 29, Full Moon Yoga with Nancy MacDougal.
On Sunday, an Early Spring Awakening Yoga class is scheduled with senior yoga teacher Julia Tirabassi from noon to 2 p.m. There is a $25 fee. Registration is required.

Gentle chair yoga begins soon
Interfaith minister Carla Mattioli will lead a gentle chair yoga program at Belleville Congregational Church Hall this spring.
The eight-week session, from March 28 to May 16, will meet each Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. There is an $80 fee.
This practice of yoga is gentle on the joints as it is performed sitting in a chair, with options to stand if you wish. Beginners are welcome and encouraged.

Red Cross blood drive March 24
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Sunday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Latitude Sports Club, 191 Elm St., Salisbury.
All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood. In celebration of Red Cross Month, donors will receive a coupon for a griddle melt from IHOP.

Free yoga classes with donation
Anne Rundle, the owner of Merrimac’s new yoga studio, Asteya Yoga, is giving back to the community as she teaches.
Asteya Yoga promotes affordable classes, and on the last Saturday of the month, in lieu of paying for classes, participants may make a donation to the charity of the month.
On March 30, the studio will be collecting donations for the Our Neighbors’ Table food pantry during the 7 a.m. Power Yoga and 8:30 a.m. Gentle flow Yoga sessions. On April 27, classes will be free with a donation to the Fresh Air Fund; on May 25, the recipient will be Opportunity Works in Newburyport.
