The following volunteer opportunities are available in the Greater Newburyport area:

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley is currently recruiting and training volunteers to help the elderly with various tasks. These include: providing transportation to medical appointments and accompanying elders to these appointment, food shopping, pharmacy pickups, bill management and companionship. Auntie’s Closet, Volunteers are needed for “Auntie’s Closet,” a charity thrift store in Salisbury. Tasks would include counter sales, organization, and pricing. Thursday through Sunday. Call Vicki at 978-376-5629 or e-mail Mel at mel@yardsaleforcharity.org for more information. Auntie’s Closet is located at 48 Elm Street (Route 110).

Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity, 60 Island St., Lawrence, 978-681-8858- contact Sharon Mason, e-mail sharon@merrimackvalleyhabitat.org . Merrimack Valley Habitat builds homes, shares hope, and changes lives. We move families from overcrowded, dispiriting living conditions to a safe, decent, and affordable home, providing the stability and foundation they need to build a better life. It is a partnership of hope, and of a helping hand. Construction and administrative volunteers are needed to help us continue our mission. Flexible arrangements.

Merrimack Valley Hospice, Home Health VNA, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence- contact Sheryl Meehan, volunteer coordinator, 978-552-4522 or smeehan@homehealthfoundation.org, Merrimack Valley Hospice is a nonprofit organization serving northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Volunteer opportunities include working with patients and families directly, administrative support to hospice staff, fundraising and more. Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement and training. A commitment of two to four hours a week on an as-needed basis is required.

The NAA is an active and vibrant art association serving artists of all ages and skills living in the Greater Newburyport area. Volunteer opportunities include exhibition installation support, organizing and hosting receptions, assisting with community outreach programs, sitting the gallery, small building upkeep projects and special events.
