Lookout: Tom Rush returns to Firehouse

The program will be dedicated to the memory of Newburyport teacher Nikki Staszewski and all victims of domestic violence, Kennedy said.

A separate Valentine’s Day flash mob, which is also part of One Billion Rising, is being organized by The Dance Place owner Fontaine Dubus and dance instructor Tracey Kimball. It will be held in Market Square at 5 p.m. on Feb. 14.

‘Red’ plays in Lowell

The Merrimack Repertory Theatre is hosting a production of the 2010 Tony Award winning play “Red” from Feb. 14 through March 10.

In the play written by John Logan, a painter is presented with a chance to work on large murals and hires a young assistant “who ends up challenging the master’s fervently held artistic beliefs.”

The play features Mark Zeisler as painter Mark Rothko and Ryan Barry as his assistant Ken. It is directed by Charles Towers.

Tickets begin at $20 and are on sale at or by calling 978-654-4678.
