Gentle Voices for First Religious sermon

Congregation member Bettina Gellinek Turner, founder and director of the all-female, hospice/bedside singing collaborative Gentle Voices, will present a sermon titled “Singing at the End of Life” on Sunday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. at First Religious Society, Unitarian Universalist, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport.

Members of the volunteer Gentle Voices group make visits at bedside to sing for individuals who are ill or dying. They visit patients in nursing homes, hospice facilities or at home in small ensembles of two or three singers at a time. Their intent is to provide comfort, connection and joy. Turner will speak about the many rewards and joys of the work and members of Gentle Voices will participate in the service. Rock Church offers a contemporary worship service on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. followed by a more traditional service at 11 a.m. For more, visit www.rock-church.org.
