Health Beat: Blood drive Monday

The American Red Cross will hold a community blood drive on Monday in Newburyport. All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood.

The drive will run from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 25 Low St., Newburyport.

Also, a drive will be held at the Merrimac Public Library on Monday, April 22, from 2 to 7 p.m.

In April, all presenting blood donors will receive a free pair of socks from New Balance, and a chance to win two Boston Red Sox tickets to be honored at Fenway Park as the Blood Donor of the Game! To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS or log on to redcrossblood.org.

Caregivers lunch in Amesbury

The Market Street Baptist Church in Amesbury is hosting a caregivers lunch on Saturday, April 20, from noon to 2 p.m. The church is located at 37 Market St.

The luncheon is for those who have been called to care for ailing loved ones to connect with other caregivers and to hear from the experiences of others. Ruth John will share her experiences and wisdom as a caregiver for nearly 20 years.

Pajama yoga for kids

Families can enjoy an evening of Pajama Yoga on Friday, April 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Rowley Children’s Center, 383 Main St., Rowley.

Led by Roots to Wings Yoga Studio staff, participants will stretch with yoga poses, play yoga games, read a story and settle in for relaxation. For all ages and caregivers. Cost $15 per family. Kids are urged to wear their pajamas.

The following community karma yoga classes will be offered at The People’s Yoga Co-Op in Amesbury on a pay-by-donation basis. All classes are drop-in.
