Local band gears up for upcoming tour with fundraiser

Newburyport’s Liz Frame and the Kickers are keeping busy this weekend.

Following its appearance at the Byfield Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, the band will host a fundraiser on Sunday at Newburyport Brewing Co. to raise money for its summer tour.

Starting at 3 p.m., the event will feature music by the Kickers and The Barn Burners. CDs and T-shirts, as well as jewelry created by Frame, will be available to purchase. The band will also perform in Newburyport next Saturday at 17 State Street Cafe.

Later in July, the Kickers will hit the road for two weeks, performing in Tennessee, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C., before heading to New York, where they will play at the prestigious Falcon Ridge Folk Festival on Aug. 1. The tour ends that evening with an appearance in the Northampton Summer Music Series.

Singer-songwriter Frame has been performing her own brand of rootsy Americana music since her early teens. Her band features Pat Chamberlin on lead guitar, Lynne Taylor on bass and Pete Walsh on drums.
