The Lookout: Celebrate spring with Newburyport’s annual festival

Make the most of the season with Newburyport Spring Fest, which takes place downtown Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival will feature art and fine crafts on Inn, State and Pleasant streets, along with live music and food from local restaurants.

Life is good will sponsor a Kid’s Korner from noon to 3 p.m. both days, offering coloring, games and other age-appropriate activities. Children will also enjoy a puppetry and storytelling performance by Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals on Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Bands taking the stage at Market Square are Jam Static, a modern/classic rock band that will perform Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., and Way to the River, a progressive rock cover band that will play Monday, also from 1 to 4 p.m.

Tour a lighthouse this weekend

The Newburyport Harbor Light at Plum Island will be open for tours from 1 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, weather permitting.

Sneakers are required, and there is a short ladder to climb. Children must be at least 5 years old and 42 inches tall.

Admission and parking are free, though donations will be accepted.

Explore Adelynrood at weekend open house

An open house will be held Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Adelynrood Retreat & Conference Center in Byfield.

The free event will feature house and garden tours, children’s activities, refreshments, a local artisan fair, local painters in their element, and the Byfield Fire Department.
