The second annual Christmas in July 5K road race will be held Saturday, July 27, in West Newbury.
Founded by Rachael Travers in honor of her late father, Jack, the race is a fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund.
Jack Travers was a Georgetown native who was diagnosed with cancer of unknown primary in 2006. He died 10 months later. Rachael turned to running as a way to cope and came up with the idea for the race in 2011. Her sister Katie also helps plan and manage the event.
The race will start at 9 a.m. at White Gate Christmas Farm, 28 Ash St., and follow a flat, scenic 3.1-mile course. Parking is available at the farm, which is owned by cancer survivor Pat Kelly, Jack’s sister.
Registration is $30, which includes an event T-shirt and post-race snacks. To sign up, visit www.christmasinjuly5k.com or any Greater Boston Running Co. location.
