Lookout: Coast Guard quintet performs in Port

Tree of Light ceremony at Anna Jaques

The Anna Jaques Hospital Aid Association will hold its annual lighting for its Tree of Light on Monday at 5 p.m. The program will take place at the Highland Avenue entrance to the hospital. The Newburyport High School varsity chorus will perform and refreshments will be served.

Jazz vespers on Wednesday

A free jazz vespers service will be held at First Religious Society on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary. The program will feature jazz, blues and swing music. Guest saxophonist Danny Harrington will join the house band and play “Christmas Time is Here” along with other seasonal selections. The band includes Lark Madden, Tomas Havrda, Susan Creamer and Andy Brewster. Cyd Raschke will perform a reading of “Christmas 1938 at a Childrens’ Home in Alaska.”

First Religious Society is located at 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport.

Restaurant showcase in Amesbury

The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce will host a Restaurant and Shop Showcase on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Bartley Machine and Manufacturing building, 35 Water St., Amesbury, on the second floor.

General admission, $10; senior admission, $5. Admission includes one raffle ticket.

Holiday programs at Lowell’s Boat Shop

Lowell’s Boat Shop in Amesbury will celebrate the season with its annual Holiday Open House on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9.

The festivities will begin with an art show preview party on Friday, Dec. 7, where Lowell’s Boat Shop members and their friends can get an early glimpse of this year’s art show and sale, “Wood and Water: a Mixed Media Exhibit.” The display includes works from numerous local artists, including members of OpArt, an art education outreach program for clients at Opportunity Works, and offered by the Newburyport Art Association.
