Health Beat: Concert to aid Pettengill House, Geiger Crisis Center

A benefit concert for The Pettengill House and the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center will take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Newburyport City Hall.

The Hanumen will present world music, mystic poetry and mantra chanting with an array of unique instruments.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Children will be admitted free.

The evening is sponsored by Roots to Wings Yoga and Learning Center in Byfield, Repose Yoga Studio in Newburyport, and People’s Yoga Co-op in Amesbury.

The Pettengill House is a Salisbury nonprofit that helps children and families by providing education, comprehensive case management and basic needs. The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center serves victims of domestic violence in the Greater Newburyport area.

Reunion for those born at Anna Jaques

Anna Jaques Hospital is inviting everyone who was born there to a reunion on Monday, July 29.

The second annual “Born @ Anna Jaques” event starts with registration at 5 p.m. and includes a group photograph at 6:15, following by the singing of “Happy Birthday” and birthday cake on the front lawn at the hospital. Food and drinks will be available from local vendors.

Those who register in advance will be entered into a drawing for a $500 engraved brick to be placed at the hospital. Attendees who make a donation of $25 or more to the Anna Jaques Community Health Foundation will receive a T-shirt and photo of this year’s gathering. Donations will benefit the Birth Center.

Volunteers sought to help ‘Stir the Pot’

The YWCA is looking for volunteers to help with its fourth annual Stir the Pot program, which provides fresh fruits and vegetables to local families in need.
