Ham and bean supper Saturday
A “German Night” theme supper will be held Saturday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Bethany Masonic Lodge in Newburyport.
Dinner will include ham, hot dogs, three kinds of beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, drinks and desserts.
Paul Rogers and Good Company will play smooth jazz to accompany the meal.
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The lodge is located at 31 Green St.
Landscapes featured at Port gallery
“Between Land & Sea,” a new exhibit at The Walsingham Gallery, features coastal landscape paintings by Robert Scott Jackson and Ronald Tinney.
Jackson is a Newburyport native who graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston and has painted on a professional level for more than 40 years.
Tinney grew up in Pennsylvania and has studied with numerous noted marine artists. He now lives on Cape Cod, where he paints year-round.
The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 30 at the gallery, which is located at 47 Merrimac St., Newburyport. Hours are Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.; Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Apprenticeships offered at boat shop
Lowell’s Boat Shop in Amesbury is offering an after-school apprentice program for high school students between the ages of 15 and 18.
Enrolled youths will work alongside museum staff and volunteers to learn the skills and art of boatbuilding. They will also have the opportunity to build a traditional wooden boat.
Applicants must display drive and dedication to the project throughout the school year. Prior woodworking experience is a plus, but not required.
