A six-session educational and supportive program will help those dealing with the grieving process.
“Beginning the Grief Journey” will meet every Tuesday, Sept. 17, through Oct. 22, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Amesbury Senior Center, 68 Elm St.
The sessions will help participants understand the uniqueness of grief, recognize the myths associated with grief, learn more about the grieving process and develop ways to take care of themselves both emotionally and physically.
Co-sponsored by Merrimack Valley Hospice and Amesbury Council on Aging, the free program is also open to residents from surrounding communities. Free transportation is available for Amesbury residents. For more information or to register, call 978-552-4537.
Emotions Anonymous meetings held weekly
Emotions Anonymous holds a free meeting every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at People’s United Methodist Church, 64 Purchase St., Newburyport.
The 12-step organization is composed of people who come together to work toward recovery from emotional difficulties, including depression, anxiety, grief, anger and relationship problems.

Recognizing the signs of dyslexia
A free, informational seminar on dyslexia will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Amesbury.
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of what dyslexia is, signs to look for and solutions that help. Difficulties with reading, decoding, phonemic awareness, writing, spelling, math or attention deficits can all be caused by dyslexia.
The seminar is presented by New England Dyslexia Solutions and will be held in the Boston North Technology Park Building A conference room, 110 Haverhill Road.

Hospital to showcase community in video
Bring your dancing shoes to Anna Jaques on Monday, Sept. 16, when the hospital will film the finale for its video entry in the Medline Pink Glove Dance Competition. The event was rescheduled due to thunderstorms in the forecast yesterday.
