Monotypes are typically produced by painting with oil- or water-based paints or inks on copper or Plexiglas plates, which are then transferred onto paper using an etching press. For many years, Bull and Przybyla produced monotypes during joint sessions at Fox Graphics, formerly in Merrimac.

Maudslay State Park calendars for sale

The Maudslay State Park Association is selling 2014 “Save the Pond” calendars that showcase the passive and active recreation elements of the park. Money raised from the sales will be used to restore the park’s pond. Calendars are $15.

The calendars are being sold in Newburyport at Yankee Runner, 49 Pleasant St.; Greater Boston Running Co., 27 Water St.; The Natural Dog, 155 State St.; Riverside Cycles, 50 Water St.; Salon Bellisimo, 113 Merrimac St.; Plum Island Coffee Roasters, 54R Merrimac St; and Maudslay headquarters, 74 Curzon Mill Road. They are also available at Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank’s various locations; Amesbury Animal Hospital, 230 Main St.; and West Newbury Food Mart, 275 Main St.

Bringing ancient Greece back to life

Take a trip into the world of Greek mythology with Village Theatre Company’s presentation of “Myth Adventures: Five Greek Classics.”

Travel with the characters as they test their strength, virtue and bravery in a whirlwind of comedy and tragedy.

Performances are scheduled for tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Laurel Grange, 21 Garden St., West Newbury.

Village Theatre Company is a nonprofit that runs three productions a year. People of all ages are welcome to audition for plays, and volunteers are welcome to help out behind the scenes.

Creative time for young children

A free Open Art Studio Series for ages 2 to 5 is being held tomorrow, Dec. 2 and Dec. 12 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Bright Horizons at Newburyport.
