Elder Services and The YWCA of Greater Newburyport will co-host a "My Life, My Health" chronic disease self-management workshop for the public this spring.
The six-week free seminar will run on Wednesdays from April 25 to May 30, but registration is now under way. The program will be held at the YWCA, 13 Market St., Newburyport, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The workshop is geared toward individuals living with, or caring for someone, with an ongoing medical condition such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, COPD or diabetes. Participants will learn tips and advice on how to eat well, control pain, exercise, handle stress, relax and increase energy.

Discussion on ADHD in West Newbury Feb. 1
Rebecca Shafir, a speech and language pathologist and neurotherapist, will give a free talk titled "Drug-free and Research-based Approaches to ADHD" on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Weight loss program at Dr. Dan's on Feb. 6
Dr. Dan Eyink will host a weight-loss talk on Monday, Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
Eyink developed his Dynamic Weight Loss program to help those struggling with weight issues and who are in need of a program designed to see significant weight loss and improved health.
"Increasing, more and more people in this country are struggling to maintain a healthy weight," Eyink said in a press release. "In addition to appearance, being overweight carries with it significant risk for serious disease such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Many people who are overweight have already developed Metabolic Syndrome, a name for a commonly accepted cluster of conditions that include elevated insulin levels, elevated blood pressure, excess triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol."

Pizza fundraiser for Diabetes Association
Fitness Together is hosting a fundraiser to support the American Diabetes Association on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Flatbread Co. in Market Square in downtown Amesbury. For every pizza sold between 5 and 9 p.m., including eat-in and take-out orders, a portion of the profits ($3.50 for every large pizza, $1.75 for every small) will go to the American Diabetes Association.

Depression lecture in Newburyport
Atria Merrimack Place in Newburyport will host Sheryl Duffy, RN, on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Duffy will give a lecture called "Depression: Let's Help Each Other" at 10 a.m. at the assisted living facility. It is open to the public. Atria Merrimack Place is at 85 Storey Ave. in Newburyport.
