Holiday show at artist studio

Indigo Artist Studio on Middle Street is hosting a holiday open house tomorrow and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The studio is featuring a show by artist Mary Arthur Pollak of “small monotype encaustics with saturated color, pattern and texture to create a glowing patchwork grid.” Pigment stick oil color works by Lillian M. Coolidge will also be on view — her images include a series of plein air paintings done in Vermont.

Indigo Artist Studio is located at 53 Middle St., Newburyport.

Joppa Flatts plays at Port restaurant

The local band Joppa Flatts will celebrate Invitation Nights at The Grog on Friday. The group, which began in Rowley several years ago, will begin playing at 9:30 p.m.

During Newburyport’s Invitation Nights — tomorrow and next Friday — numerous shops in downtown Newburyport and the Tannery Marketplace stay open late for holiday shoppers, offering light refreshments and holiday cheer. Entertainment will be offered in Market Square on both nights as well. Invitation Nights run from 6 to 9 p.m.

Santa’s Workshop set up on Inn Street

Throughout this month, younger visitors to Inn Street will find Santa Claus ready to listen to their wish lists.

Santa’s Workshop will be held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Dec. 22, and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Dec. 23.

Sponsored by the Newburyport Mothers Club, children can meet Santa, share their wish list, and get their photo taken with jolly old St. Nick.
