Concert brings us ‘Together at Christmas’

An Amesbury church is ringing in the holidays this weekend with its ninth annual Christmas concert.

“Together at Christmas” will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main St. Directed by Danny Smith, the performance will feature Voices of Distinction from Kingston, N.H.; the Main Streets Cherub Choir; the MSCC Teen Choir; the MSCC Adult Choir; and the Glory Bells bell choir.

Coffee and light desserts will follow the concert. Tickets are available in advance for $12 or at the door for $15. For more information, call 978-388-0982 or visit www.main-street-church.org.

Holiday shopping, treats in Amesbury

“Holiday Sip ’n Stroll” events will take place in downtown Amesbury tonight from 5 to 9 and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Participating stores will offer special sales, snacks and beverages. Live music will be played at several locations. The events are organized by the Amesbury Downtown Business Association.

Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its annual Amesbury Invitation Nights for next Thursday, starting at 5:30 p.m. Shops with white balloons out front will offer treats and one-night-only specials.

New exhibit rolls into the Grog

New paintings of old work trucks by Newburyport artist Alan Bull are on view at the Grog restaurant in Newburyport through Dec. 23.

Each oil painting represents a different month and will be published in a 2014 calendar. They feature local scenes along with trucks and tractors in Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Utah.

The public is invited to meet Bull at a free reception tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. and during Invitation Night tomorrow from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
