Photography exhibit continues at local bank

Photographs by Stephanie Naffah are on display in “Beyond the Eye,” an exhibit running through Feb. 1 at The Provident Bank’s Newburyport branch.

Naffah believes that every photo has a story behind it and likes to take pictures of subjects that don’t typically get a lot of attention.

An artist’s reception will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the bank, 66 Storey Ave. Light refreshments will be served.

For more information, call 978-225-1401 or visit www.theprovidentbank.com.

Entertainment and food at 17 State St.

17 State Street Cafe’s “Beats, Burgers and Brews” will feature Joe Hanley tomorrow and Altered Trio on Saturday.

Hanley, who has spent the past 20 years playing around New England with his bands Beyond the Pale and The Foggy Duo, is getting back to his solo acoustic roots.

Altered Trio features drummer Yuriana Sobrino, bassist Andy Dow and guitarist Dan Searl, who together use their improvisational skills to maneuver their way through jazz classics.

Both shows are from 7 to 9 p.m. at the downtown Newburyport restaurant.
