Tannery Reading Series hosts Andre Dubus III, Anthony D'Aries

Since it began, the series has expanded and gained a following, Kapur added. The last session of the group last spring drew about 85 people. She and Shand will meet to discuss ideas for upcoming sessions and to finalize a topic, Kapur said.

Saturday’s program grew out of a discussion between the two writers about the new best-selling book, “How to Be a Woman” by British columnist Caitlin Moran.

With so much attention being given to the topic, Kapur said, they decided to check in on “gender on the other side” and to see what people are writing and thinking about the gender issue.

“A lot of our topics come out of our conversations on books,” she said.
