Have too much leftover Halloween candy? Through Nov. 15, Newburyport Dental Associates is accepting donations to send to deployed soldiers.
In addition to candy, children are also encouraged to create cards, letters or pictures to send to the troops for the fourth annual Operation Candy Donation. Those who donate will receive a gift card for Anchor Stone Deck Pizza or Chococoa Baking Co.

Voting is open until midnight today for the Pink Glove Dance video contest, and Anna Jaques Hospital is currently in the top five.
The hospital that wins the national competition will receive a $25,000 donation toward the breast cancer charity of its choice. Anna Jaques has chosen Amesbury-based Tough Warrior Princesses, which is a nonprofit committed to educating the public and providing support to local women and their families.
Second- and third-place winners will receive $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.

Author, healer to speak at YWCA
Local throat cancer survivor Denise DeSimone will give a free talk on Monday, Nov. 18, at the YWCA Children’s Center in Newburyport.
Told seven years ago that she had only three months to live, DeSimone used holistic and spiritual healing practices to beat the odds. She believes that by applying the scientific principles of energy to the way we conduct our lives, we are capable of miraculous recovery.
The author of “From Stage IV to Center Stage,” DeSimone is an ordained minister with a background in sound healing, reiki, polarity therapy, reflexology, Shamanism and process therapy.
