Health Beat: Dr. Dan addresses nutrition and herbal therapy

Dr. Dan Eyink will discuss nutrition and herbal therapy during and after cancer treatment during a lecture on Monday.

The talk will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dr. Dan’s Natural Healing Center, 171 High St., Newburyport. It is designed for those who have a family history of cancer, who are currently receiving treatment for the disease or in remission.

Dr. Dan will discuss the latest holistic treatments for dealing with cancer and rebuilding one’s health after conventional treatment for the disease.

Port resident named ambassador for Hospice walk

Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston has named Newburyport resident Amy Gray as an employee ambassador for the 25th annual Walk for Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston.

Registration for Sunday’s walk will begin at 8 a.m. The 3-mile walk is held on the campus of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers. In addition to the walk, the festivities will include face painting, music, snacks and tribute wall.

Blood drive in Amesbury Thursday

Amesbury’s Main Street Congregational Church will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 145 Main St., Amesbury.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and every pint donated could save up to three lives.

Meditation sessions in Port

Buddhist and Unitarian Universalist educator Mary Kay Dyer will lead three meditation sessions and discussions at First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport.

The program, “Making Your Life More Meditative,” will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11. It is free to attend. No previous meditation experience is necessary.
