Lookout: Robinson exhibits at Governor’s Academy


The Byfield youth theater company, TTS Players, are presenting “Once On This Island Jr.,” beginning this weekend.

More than 60 local youth will take the stage in the performances, set for tomorrow and Saturday and again on Sept. 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday and again on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Byfield Community Arts Center, 7 Central St., Byfield.

Among the performers are: Kazmira Chateauneuf, Robin Orr and Lauren Swift of Amesbury; Kira Carlson and Kristen Siebert of Byfield; Jackie Chianca, Danielle Damico, Alex Kosciuszek, Cole Martens, Charles Mullen, Sarah Olbash and Nicole Reardon of Georgetown; Davan Connelly, Zoie Connelly, Maddie MacDonald and Carly MacDonald of Newbury.

Also, Caroline Bell, Emma Bodwell, Emily Coulombe, Grace Demeritt, Anna Doucette, Sean Doucette, Sidney Ficht, Olivia Frisch, Devyn Gallagher, Jillian Gray, Danielle Harrison, Emma O’Rourke, Lilly Page, Maggie Pennington, Madeleine Rubino, Jillian Stallard, Claire Thibeault, Summer Tracy, Tiegan Trach and Amy Wolpert of Newburyport; Sean Bellamy, Sheelagh Cook, Harry DiTullio, Mackenzie Tatro and Mitchell Wolpert of Salisbury, and Annika Ellis, Erin Flaherty, Megan Kempton, Katie Sutton and Liz Sutton of West Newbury.

Directed and choreographed by Stephanie Schapero, the song-and-dance show follows a peasant girl, Ti Moune, as she rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of the island that she lives on.

“When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death,” notes the show’s organizers.
