The following statistics were gathered by Ray Whitley, a Salisbury resident who is an observer for the National Weather Service:
June was much below normal in temperature and much above normal in precipitation.
Average daily temperature: 61.8 degrees, minus 4.2 degrees below normal, making this the fourth-coolest June since 1956.
Six days with above normal readings and 23 days with below normal readings, leaving one day with normal readings.
The high temperature for the month was 84 degrees recorded on June 26.
The low temperature for the month was 42 degrees recorded on June 1, breaking the previous record of 44 degrees in 1973. The low of 44 degrees on the 17th tied the previous record set in 1956.
6.35 inches of precipitation fell during the month, 2.64 inches above normal, making this the 11th wettest May since 1914.
Measurable amounts of precipitation fell on 17 days and one day with trace amounts, leaving 12 days with no precipitation recorded.
19 days of fog and 2 thunderstorms were recorded.
