By Dave Rogers

---- — GEORGETOWN — A threatening Twitter message received Sunday night aimed at Georgetown Middle High School prompted police and school officials to meet with students and staff yesterday.

Georgetown police investigated the tweet, received around 10:40 p.m. Sunday, and quickly determined it wasn’t a credible threat to anyone or the school district.

As a precaution, a Connect Ed phone blast was sent to parents yesterday to quell any rumors. Police did not identify the source of the tweet.

Police, in conjunction with other departments, are continuing to investigate the Twitter message with the hope of identifying those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective James Rodden or Lt. Donald Cudmore at the Georgetown Police Department at 978-352-5700 or 978-352-5705.
